Standing Draped Statue – Roman Villas of Carthage

This marble statue, preserved among the Roman villas of Carthage, depicts a standing figure wrapped in flowing drapery. Although the head and arms are missing, the careful carving of the folds conveys movement and elegance, hallmarks of Roman sculptural style.

Statues like this often stood in courtyards or garden niches, bringing life and presence into domestic spaces. Their placement within the villas reflected both artistic taste and the cultural values of Carthage’s Roman elite, who celebrated refinement, wealth, and connection to classical traditions.

📌 This model is part of the Tanit XR digital preservation initiative, which documents and shares Tunisia’s endangered cultural heritage through 3D scanning and immersive storytelling.
