Tanit XR is taking part in CityCamp Gainesville Hack Day on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm at the Reitz Union, room G330, University of Florida. It is an official MLH Hack Day hosted by Florida Community Innovation, our fiscal sponsor, as part of CityCamp Gainesville, the city’s annual civic technology gathering.

Our challenge asks for one thing: something a person can actually use, built in about six hours, that helps people explore, understand or care for cultural heritage.

It can be technical. Take at least one real scan from our Sketchfab collection, or one of the models we have already optimized for interactive use, and build a browser exhibit, an AR or VR scene, a game, an accessible model viewer, or a tool that helps volunteers label and compare photogrammetry models.

It can also need no code at all: a lesson, a story map, a clickable exhibit, a communications campaign or a volunteer toolkit that introduces one part of Tunisian heritage to a specific audience. Either way, credit your sources, separate documented facts from interpretation, and keep Tunisian people and places at the center.

Registration, the schedule and the judging criteria are on the MLH event page. Submissions are due at 4:30 pm. Questions: info@tanitxr.org.

If you build something with our models and want to keep going afterwards, volunteer with us.
