This paper was presented at the El Jem Conference in April 2026 and explores how digital documentation, extended reality (XR), and citizen science can support scalable, community-driven heritage preservation in Tunisia and beyond.
Using Tanit XR as a case study, the paper highlights how accessible technologies and volunteer training can expand documentation efforts, reach underrepresented sites, and connect global audiences to Tunisian heritage.

Cet article a été présenté à la conférence d’El Jem en avril 2026. Il explore comment la documentation numérique, la réalité étendue (XR) et la science participative peuvent soutenir une préservation du patrimoine évolutive et portée par les communautés, en Tunisie et au-delà.
À travers l’exemple de Tanit XR, l’article montre comment des technologies accessibles et la formation de bénévoles permettent d’élargir les efforts de documentation, d’inclure des sites sous-représentés et de connecter un public international au patrimoine tunisien.
