This 6-week online course introduces splats using smartphones, taught by Mark Jeffcock.
Participants will learn how to capture real-world objects using a phone, turn them into 3D models and Gaussian splats, and review scans together in an immersive learning environment.
The cohort meets once a week at 7PM Tunisia Time (2PM Eastern) for 1 hour, for 6 weeks. No prior experience is required. Attendance and engagement matter more than technical background.
Due to limited spots, we review applications holistically based on availability, background, and motivation. More details are shared with accepted participants.
“30 separate 3D scans. One house. 30 mins. It's amazing how far 3D gaussian splatting has come. I didn't have specialized LIDAR camera or professional scanning equipment. just my iphone 13 and a piece of heritage i wanted to document. Special thanks to Tanit XR and Mark Jeffcock who pushed me to go bigger with my scans.”
Salma RamadanXR developer and technical artist, Splats With Phones participant“Huge thanks for an excellent deep dive into Gaussian splatting to Mark Jeffcock, Ines Said at Tanit XR, and Arrival.Space. It's been an amazing 6 weeks, and I've very much enjoyed scanning the local landscape and heritage and seeing the group's own offerings from around the world!”

Every week the cohort meets inside one another’s scans on Arrival.Space, places captured with a phone from Nigeria to Malta.
