Tanit XR is run entirely by volunteers. Nobody is paid, and most of what you see here, the scanning trips, the tools, the hosting, the hackathon prizes, has so far been paid out of our founders' own pockets. That cannot last, and it should not.
A donation goes straight into the work: a volunteer's bus fare and mobile data for a day of scanning, a month of hosting for the free archive, a workshop that teaches someone in Tunisia to capture their own heritage, and one day a proper scanner so the community can record more than a phone allows. Here is what each amount does.
Help cover basic costs for scanning a site: like transportation, mobile data for uploads, and backup storage.
Cover a month of hosting and software for the open archive and the volunteers who optimize and publish models.
Run a free workshop or course session for the community, Splats With Phones, history lessons, mentoring and interview prep for students.
Sponsor a community scanning and site clean-up day with local volunteers, covering travel, meals and shared equipment, and start compensating local contributors for their time.
Build out the virtual museum and save toward professional scanning gear such as the XGRIDS PortalCam, so the community can capture more than a phone allows.
Donations are tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor, Florida Community Innovation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
